Please note Rules Governing the Perth Fair. They pertain to all classes. Please read them carefully.

WE THANK ALL EXHIBITORS FOR ENTERING. ONLY THE TOP THREE ENTRIES IN EACH SECTION WILL BE DISPLAYED AT THE PERTH FAIR. ALL OTHER ENTRIES WILL BE DONATED TO THE SALVATION ARMY COMMUNITY LUNCH PROGRAM.

  • All items (except whole loaves of bread) to be displayed on sturdy disposable plates (the smallest size to hold the entry).
  • All entries to be placed in clear zip-lock bags or plastic bags with twist ties.
  • Securely attach tag to outside of bag, in a bottom corner.


  • No commercial mixes or fillings to be used.
  • No glazes on breads or rolls.
  • Cakes are to be baked in 8” or 9” round or square pans.
  • Cakes cut in quarters are to include the outside edge and into the centre (see diagrams).

JUDGING TIPS

  • Bread and rolls - well proportioned; rounded crust with no cracks or bulges.
  • Muffins - symmetrical shape, no peaks.
  • Cookies - approx. 2-2 ½" round.
  • Squares - approx. 1½" square, not cut from the outside edge of pan; holds shape when served.
  • Loaves - a crack in the centre of the top of loaf is acceptable; fruit evenly distributed; even grain.
  • When submitting 3 cookies, rolls, muffins, etc. - uniform size; even colouring.
  • Pies and tarts - crust is medium thickness, flaky, golden brown; filling holds shape when served.
  • Cakes - level or slightly rounded top; even grain; if iced, icing is creamy, not too thick.

  25. Pecan pie - 1 large slice
  26. Chocolate cake - iced - 3” wedge, attractively displayed with garnish on a plate.
  27. Cake decorated to reflect theme "Rural Routes". As this will be judged entirely on the appearance of the cake decorations, forms or blocks may be used instead of an actual cake. Edible decorations only. PRIZE MONEY - 1st $12.00 , 2nd $10.00, 3rd $8.00

NOTE: FOR CATEGORIES 31, 32, 36, 38, & 48 -  FIRST PLACE WINNERS must sign a release form giving permission to the sponsor to use the winner’s name, recipe, and/or photograph in any advertising or publicity without payment. The Perth Fair will submit the signed releases, your recipes, & photographs, together with the names & addresses of SECOND AND THIRD PLACE WINNERS where applicable.

  11. Chocolate cheesecake cupcakes - 3 - , attach cream cheese wrapper or label, made with the following recipe:

    250 g. cream cheese
    1/3 cup white sugar
    1 egg
    1 cup chocolate chips

    Cream the cream cheese, sugar and egg. Stir in the chocolate chips and set aside.

    1 ½ cups all purpose flour
    1 cup water
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1/3 cup oil
    1 cup white sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. white vinegar

    Combine dry ingredients. Combine wet ingredients and add to dry ingredients. Fill greased muffin tins 1/3 full with chocolate mixture. Drop a large spoonful of cheese mixture on top. Bake 350°F for 20 - 25 minutes.
