As we get ready to welcome the 169th Perth Fair, I think about all the hard work that is unseen to prepare for our annual event. I want to first and foremost thank you all for the time you have put into our fair. Whether you are a volunteer who chairs a committee or are there preparing and helping on the day you are needed, to the exhibitors who have put time, energy, money and care into what they are bringing to the fair to show, I want you to know that it is much appreciated, and what you do contributes greatly to creating a Fair that is chock-full of things to see and do, and touch and taste! The theme for this year is “Its A Small World After All” and that is a good synonym for what a fair is. First and foremost, we promote Agriculture...did you ever think about how all these animals that you see originated from other countries, and have been bred to adapt to our Canadian climate? Then we also have crafts of many types, baking and preserving, all influenced by traditions and family preferences. We have vendors with products to buy that may be unique to their very own abilities, or that have come from far away. We have food of all types to taste, musicians and entertainers diverse, and we welcome everyone, no matter where you come from, to be a part of the Perth Fair and experience what this small part of the world offers you. Who knows, maybe you will be inspired to become a Fair Board volunteer and see what you can offer back to continue the tradition! I wish you all a happy time here in Perth, and enjoy your visit to the Fair. Good luck to all our exhibitors, and we look forward to celebrating an amazing 170 years in 2015 with you! About the Perth Fair
The Perth and District Agricultural Society was founded in 1845. Many things have changed over the years, including the name and location of the society. One thing that has remained is the dedicated volunteer base which has supported the organization over the years. Did you know? - The Perth and District Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization that hosts the Perth Fair on Labour Day weekend in Perth, ON. The organization is made up of hundreds of volunteers who come together to present a balance between agricultural and entertainment events. We continue to build upon tradition while embracing the future and look to bring the best possible Fair to the Perth Fairgrounds. Have you considered volunteering?
